about sweet sensations

Liz Bygrave, who runs Sweet Sensations, has spent many years making sweet recipes, especially chocolate, with various alternative and natural ingredients. These include raw chocolate, sweeteners such as xylitol, agave syrup, Sweet Freedom and coconut sugar; oils and nuts for imparting a creamy dairy taste to recipes, and superfoods such as goji berries, mesquite and lucuma.

Liz has come up with a number of inventive and delicious ways of making sugar, dairy and wheat free dessert, chocolate and ice cream recipes. New  ingredients come onto the market thick and fast nowadays, and Liz tries them out and then tells you all about her findings in her monthly e-newsletter (sign up via the top left of each page).

Chocolate
There is almost no limit to the wonderful recipes you can make with pure chocolate ingredients such as chocolate powder and cocoa butter (all without using any sugar, dairy or wheat of course). Liz mainly uses both cocoa powder and raw chocolate, also known as ‘cacao’,  which contains at least four times the antioxidants as the darkest of dark organic chocolate, as well as a host of other nutrients such as magnesium, sulphur and PEA.. As well as chocolate powder, there is also sensuous cacao butter and dark and bitter cacao nibs and cacao paste. Check out the Raw Chocolate Ingredients page in the online shop for more info.

Can't cook?
Well, the dishes Liz has created involve no cooking and don’t use complicated lists of ingredients, so they are very quick & easy to prepare. (All recipes are also vegan, mostly raw, & of course completely  free from sugar, dairy & wheat.)

About Liz
Liz has worked as an alternative health therapist since the early 1990s. With a childhood history of severe eczema and hayfever, and irresistible inbuilt leaning towards all things natural(!), she has always liked to eat as healthily as possible, but also has a very sweet tooth to satisfy.

This led her to seek out healthier alternatives to sugar and dairy and wheat, and then to experiment with recipes where she could finally indulge her sweet tooth without having to worry about what she was putting in her mouth.

Back in 2005, what was a hobby grew into a business as Liz realised that other people were also keen to know about the ingredients she used and how to combine them to make delicious sweet recipes. This was when she started teaching her popular workshops and has since become one of the foremost raw chocolate experts and workshop leaders in the UK.

Want to learn more?
Liz has been running chocolate workshops for many years in North London. However, she has recently moved to St Leonards in East Sussex, so these particular workshops are on hold for now. Sign up to the newsletter to be kept informed of where and when they will resume. In the meantime, if you can’t wait that long (!), Liz is happy to run a private workshop especially for you (and up to three of your friends).  Contact Liz at liz@sweetsensations.uk.com for now, although she intends to have details and prices up on the website very soon.

Or you can buy Liz's handmade range of chocolate truffles or Chocolate Making Kits. Indulge in some dreamy ice cream recipes with the I Love Ice Cream! Recipe e-booklet or some delectable chocolate recipes with the I Love Raw Chocolate! Recipe E-Book.
